10 Tips for a Successful Web Site

There are many ways to publish a website to the internet, but with thousands of new sites being added daily it is almost impossible to attract the right type of visitor. The following is a list of 10 tips for building and promoting your site with the intention of attracting large numbers of visitors.

1. With so many sites on the web it’s important that yours standout, so you must FIND A NICHE. Try to find something your target audiences will appreciate: unique product, service, content, pricing, etc.

2. The more time you spend promoting your site the more successful it will be, so ALLOCATE TIME FOR PROMOTION. Investment in promotion time means better chance for success. Plan how many hours you can devote.

3. You will never reach all 70 million internet users, so ensure your promotion is TARGETTED. Focus on attracting those visitors most likely to be interested in your web site.

4. NET AWARENESS - spend time finding out what works, ie, the best way for visitors to interact with your site and its content. Make it easy to navigate and user friendly.

5. Everyday new ideas are being tried to bring visitors to your site. CREATIVE IDEAS are the key to doing something different. Use your creative abilities to identify an event you can use as a ‘hook’ for promotion activity.

6. PLANNING - you must have an organized plan to ensure you are always on top of promotion. It is essential that you keep a log of everything you have previously tried along with the results, and make a detailed plan for your future promotion efforts.

7. Change is occurring so fast on the internet you must be ADAPTABLE and try and build your site so it is easy to update quickly. Be ready to adopt new techniques and shift emphasis to where you are getting best results.

8. Along with the ability to change your site you must be PERSISTENT if something you try does not work. Keep adding new techniques, new links, and new resources to your marketing plans.

9. Work to maintain and accelerate the traffic momentum at your site. Once you have achieved a particular goal, set your sights higher and develop new ideas for promotion.

10. Analyze your traffic patterns. MEASURING RESULTS ensures you keep track of what works so that you can continue to leverage your success. Keep testing and fine-tuning results until your site becomes a valuable resource and gives you an income which will eventually allow you to give up your full time job and become the internet’s next web ENTREPRENEUR !!

As you can see, the above steps will allow you to build your website for success. It is of utmost importance that each step is followed and planned well for you to develop your site into one which attracts many visitors. There are, of course, many tools available on the web offering miraculous solutions for attracting thousands of visitors. One of the best ones I have personally used is an ebook giving a detailed step by step plan complete with exercises. These steps (also known as lessons) include developing a web traffic plan, registering your site, using email to generate traffic, and advertising.

Three Profit Pulling Tips for Effective Solo Ads

Solo ads are one of the most powerful advertising tools you can use for quick and easy advertising.

Unfortunately the true power of using solo ads to advertise your website is falling well below what it could be. A lot of emphasis has been placed on the ‘how to write a solo ad’, but very little practical help on what to do to increase the effectiveness of solo ads.

While the writing of a solo ad is very important, there is still another mountain to climb.

Picture this…

Let’s say you have just written the world’s greatest solo ad. It has just been published to an email list of about 15,000 targeted readers. Your ad is so good that you receive over 6,000 unique visitors. Does that mean that the ad was effective? Does that mean that the job was well done?

At first glance it would seem that the ad was a smashing success. Most people would be ecstatic with this type of performance from an ad. But, let’s look a little closer at the results.

Let’s say out of those 6,000 visitors you made only 10 sales. Is that still a smashing success?

The Effectiveness of a Solo Ad is judged by the Most Wanted Response

Traffic is one thing. If that’s all you ever wanted. But, what good is traffic is nothing happens with it. Solo ads are a tremendous vehicle for receiving quality, targeted traffic but they have to work together with what you want the traffic to do. This is called your Most Wanted Response (MWR). This is what you write your solo ad around.

To boost your solo ad’s effectiveness keep in mind your MWR and you’ll see an amazing increase in your profits.

In writing thousands of solo ads this is the formula I use in writing solo ads around the MWR.

What will get people to come back

For real solo ad power you have to realize that it costs more to advertise to the same person over and over again. So, when writing your ad with the MWR in mind, think of what you can offer to the visitor when they show up. One of the best things is an ezine, or some sort of mailing list where you can keep in touch with the person over and over again.

Another great tool to use is a multi part ‘how to’ course, or autoresponder series. By having something like this available on the page that the visitors will be coming to you are dramatically increasing the effectiveness of the solo ad.

When I am writing an ad for a client I always look at the site to see what it has to offer visitors when they get there. I never focus on the product. I always focus on what the site offers. People don’t want to hear about another fantastic product they can’t do without. But, they will always like hearing about some new information. Use that as your MWR.

Focus on one page

A lot of solo ads pretty much focus on the wrong things. Like I mentioned above, people do focus on the product which tends to decrease the overall effectiveness of the solo ad, but they also focus on the wrong page.

Think about what will appeal to your target visitor. Is it going to be the home page? Will it be the page where you have a free offer? Will it be a page where a previous customer gives a tremendous recommendation? Think about what page you want the visitor to go there and don’t mention any other pages.

Some solo ads mention several pages in an attmept to cover the entire field. This only leads to confusion on the part of the reader. Have one page as the focus of the ad.

Don’t forget about the reader

Sometimes, not all the time, but sometimes I have to tell a client that the way the current website is, no ad will be effective. I get the usual, “Well, that’s your opinion!” only to be followed a few weeks later with, “What do I have to do to make it better?”.

See, an ad all by itself is just an ad. It really doesn’t do a lot. Yes, it sends people to your site, but if your site isn’t geared to accept the reader of the ad… nothing happens.

Don’t forget about the person reading your ad. They are real people. If your site is set up with absolutely no coherent information, is confusing, and leads people to nowhere, then your ad is just a waste of your money and other people’s time.

Once someone leaves your ad and is ready to do something at your site, make it easy for them. The overall effectiveness of a solo ad is what happens when the person lands on your site. If you can understand this one simple tip you will see a major impact on your results.

Solo ads are very powerful advertising tools. Use them right and there is no limit to the amount of success you can achieve.

Banner Exchange Secrets

Banner exchanges are not as effective as they once were but hey free advertising is free advertising. Especially when you don’t have to go out of your way to advertise it exclusively. What do I mean? Well I use banner exchanges only on traffic exchanges at the very bottom of my ads. For those of you who are not familiar with banner exchanges, they are virtually the same as traffic exchanges.

I put banner exchanges on the bottom of my ad in the traffic exchanges and put a caption like, “Banner Exchange Sponsor Ad.” You are killing two birds with one stone here. You are clearly telling your visitors that you are using a banner exchange on your ad so they don’t click thinking you are the owner of the banner.

You are also don’t need to do any extra advertising to use banner exchanges. You can look at an example of a banner exchange on one of my traffic exchange ads here.

You can probably get away with putting two banner exchanges on the same page. This way you will produce credits in the traffic exchange and you will also be racking up banner impressions somewhere else on the web!

It takes some browsing and research to find the right banner exchange to match your business. This way you are more likely to get a higher click thru percentage (which is a good thing). You can see around a 1% conversion rate for your clicks with a good exchange. A huge banner exchanges usually have different categories to choose from to fit your business.

Best Banner Exchanges

I currently use the 3 best banner exchanges that distribute my banner impressions the quickest. I usually get a ratio for about 30 clicks on my banners from each three exchanges per month. Obviously you not going to light up the traffic charts but remember that banner exchange click thrus are of higher quality.

Here are the 3 best that I use and pleased witht the results

* Banners Go MLM- this banner exchange is by far the fastest at showing your banner on other peoples pages. For some reason I also get a higher click thru ratio from them as well.

* Rx2 Super Banners- Rx2 is ranked very high as far as quality traffic and click thrus

* TDH Banners- I know the owner personally on this exchange and she does a really great job keeping your banners showing smoothly.

Simply put the banner html for each exchange into your traffic exchange ad. You can look at one of my ads for example (TDH Banners On Ad). Now that you have done that, make sure that you have your own banner uploaded on their server so that you can get click thrus. You can use a banners that a business you are promoting provides or you can create your own at Free Addesigner.
